I have been working in the Austin foundation repair contractor business for nearly two decades now. Not for the same company, as I like to change every few years. Sometimes changing employer in this kind of business is not always a choice. I also prefer working for small companies rather than big business, it is a much better work environment, especially when the business is a family one. I have considered in the past running my own company, but when I think about all of the paperwork involved, it puts me off. Maybe one day when I am older and looking for other people to work for me.
The current job that I am working on is an old house that was built near what I would refer to as marsh land. Although the house is on dry land, I think the wetlands nearby have had an effect on the way that the house has settled over the years. A couple of large cracks run up the eastern wall, and it is those and the foundations I am involved in repairing. One thing that I do love about this job is getting to work outside when the weather is warm.
